The US ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, has reiterated that Washington’s highest priority is securing the release of the captives during a meeting with the families of US citizens held by Hamas in Gaza.
“I will do everything in my power to ensure Edan Alexander is reunited with his family, and that the four deceased Americans that Hamas continues to hold hostage are returned to their loved ones,” Huckabee wrote on X.
Last week, Hamas announced that they had lost contact with Alexander, who was taken during the October 7, 2023 attack, after finding the body of the guard looking after the captive following an Israeli attack.
