France's President Emmanuel Macron said on Wednesday that the situation in Gaza was "the most critical we have ever seen".

"Never, never have people been deprived of medical care, unable to get the wounded out, deprived of food, medicine and water for so long," said Macron at a joint press conference with Germany's new Chancellor Friedrich Merz, calling the "forced displacement" of Gaza's population planned by Israel "unacceptable".
