Catastrophic Levels of Hunger in Gaza
The Gaza Strip is facing a critical level of famine risk, with 22% of its population threatened by a catastrophic situation, after 19 months of war and more than two months of a complete ban on the entry of aid, according to the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification report.

The report, which was published, warned that by September, all of Gaza's 2.1 million residents will be in a state of crisis or even worse in terms of food insecurity, with 470,000 of them, or 22%, facing a catastrophic situation.

It pointed out that nearly half a million Palestinians are suffering from catastrophic levels of hunger, meaning they are at risk of dying from starvation, while another million people are experiencing emergency levels of hunger.

Complete famine is the most likely scenario unless circumstances change, according to the classification results.

It is worth noting that Israel has prohibited the entry of any food, shelter materials, medicines, or other goods into the Palestinian enclave over the past ten weeks, even as it continues to carry out waves of airstrikes and ground operations.

The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu did not respond to a request for comment on the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification report.
