US President Donald Trump announced his acceptance of the Boeing 747-8 aircraft offered by Qatar as a gift from the Qatari ruling family to replace the US presidential plane.
Trump said, "Qatar offered to contribute a plane, and it's a very good gift and a wonderful gesture," adding, "I accepted Qatar's gift and I won’t refuse it."
He continued, "We’ve helped Qatar a lot, and I respect its leadership," announcing, "I do not intend to use the plane after leaving office."
It is worth noting that the new plane is valued at approximately $400 million, making it one of the most expensive government gifts ever.
This Qatari initiative to present the gift to Trump comes just ahead of his historic visit to the Middle East.
