The Israeli army thwarted “an attempt to smuggle weapons using a drone coming from Egypt into Israel, which was carrying 22 weapons along with some ammunition.”
The army’s statement read: “Last night, Israeli Defense Forces surveillance in the Paran Brigade area detected a drone that had crossed from Egyptian territory into Israeli territory in an attempt to smuggle weapons.”
It added: “The army forces shot down the drone, and during the search operations conducted by Israeli army fighters, the drone was found carrying 19 pistols, 3 submachine guns, and ammunition.”
The statement continued: “The weapons were handed over to the security forces to complete the handling procedures.”
