According to the circular, published by the Syrian newspaper Al-Watan, the Ministry of Tourism requested more "modest swimwear" be worn at public beaches and swimming pools. It noted the necessity of wearing what is known as a "burkini" or any clothing that 'covers the body more extensively,' as per the text of the circular.
