A spokesperson for UN chief Antonio Guterres has warned that Israeli restrictions on the flow of humanitarian aid into and within Gaza continue to severely hinder life-saving assistance.
Stephane Dujarric told reporters in New York that of 12 aid missions requiring Israeli coordination yesterday, only six were facilitated, mostly to move supplies and fuel in southern Gaza.
Three other missions were impeded, two were cancelled, and one – to repair a road in Khan Younis – was outright denied, Dujarric said.
“With famine now confirmed in Gaza governorate, the humanitarian consequences of ongoing hostilities, displacement, and aid obstruction are even more devastating for the population,” he added.
