Part of a newly built bridge in southwestern China collapsed just a few months after its opening, with no injuries reported.

Local authorities said police in the city of Maerkang closed the 758-meter-long Hongqi Bridge to traffic after cracks appeared on nearby slopes and roads, and shifts were observed in the terrain of a nearby mountain. Shortly after, the beginning section of the bridge and part of the main road gave way.
