Pope Francis XIV visited the famous Sultan Ahmed Mosque (the Blue Mosque) and a museum in Istanbul, marking his first entry into a Muslim place of worship since being elected Pope. The Pope removed his shoes at the entrance, in accordance with religious customs.
A mosque official who accompanied him during the tour said that the Pope spent a long time admiring the place and was very impressed.
