Heavy rains have caused massive flooding in the US state of Washington, prompting evacuation orders for tens of thousands of residents.

Washington Governor Bob Ferguson urged residents in threatened areas to leave and follow the instructions of local authorities. It is believed that up to 100,000 residents have been affected by the evacuation orders.

Ferguson said in a post on the platform X: “I understand that many in our state have experienced major floods in the past; however, we are facing a historic situation, as we expect water levels to rise two feet above the previous record flood level.”
