So who is Machado?

Machado, born in October 1967, is a Venezuelan politician and industrial engineer, currently serving as the leader of the opposition in Venezuela.

She was an elected member of the Venezuelan National Assembly from 2011 to 2014. In 2025, she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize "for her tireless work in promoting the democratic rights of the Venezuelan people."
