Colombian President Gustavo Petro rejected the threats and accusations from US President Donald Trump that he is a drug trafficker.
He wrote on X: "My name does not appear in any court files related to drug trafficking. Stop tarnishing my reputation, Mr. Trump."
Earlier, the US president had said that an operation in Colombia similar to the one carried out in Venezuela seemed ‘like a good idea,’ accusing Petro of trafficking drugs to the United States and warning that he ‘will not remain in office for long.’
The Colombian president strongly criticized ‘the military actions conducted by the Trump administration in the region’ and condemned ‘the kidnapping operation of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, which has no legal basis.’
