A president announces survival of assassination attempt
Colombian President Gustavo Petro announced that he survived an assassination attempt hours earlier, months after warnings about an alleged plot by drug traffickers to target him.

According to reports, Petro’s helicopter was unable to land at its destination on the Caribbean coast over fears that unidentified individuals might open fire on it. Speaking during a cabinet meeting broadcast live, Petro said: “We headed out to sea for four hours and I ended up in a place we were not supposed to go, after surviving an attempt to kill me.”
