Colombian authorities announced the eruption of a mud volcano in the country’s northwest and issued evacuation orders for nearby areas, with no injuries reported.
The eruption occurred in the town of San Juan de Urabá, located in the Antioquia Department. Local officials said the volcano erupted near the municipal water treatment plant and close to residential homes.
Authorities confirmed that no injuries have been reported so far, with damage limited to the road leading to the Siete Vueltas area. Officials stated that nearby homes will be evacuated as a precautionary measure.
A video circulating on social media showed a large column of flames and thick smoke rising from a flat area, with flames shooting high into the sky while smaller fires burned in the foreground.
