Trump Announces Two-Week Ceasefire with Iran
In a major development, U.S. President Donald Trump has announced a two-week suspension of military strikes against Iran, contingent on Tehran agreeing to the “complete, immediate, and safe” opening of the Strait of Hormuz.

According to Trump, the decision followed discussions with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir, who requested a pause in U.S. military actions. Trump emphasized that the ceasefire will be reciprocal, marking a temporary halt to hostilities on both sides.

“The reason for doing so is that we have already met and exceeded all military objectives and are very far along with a definitive agreement concerning long-term peace with Iran, and peace in the Middle East,” Trump said. He noted that Washington had received a ten-point proposal from Iran, which provides a workable foundation for final negotiations.

Trump stressed that most points of past contention between the United States and Iran have already been agreed upon, and the two-week window will allow the agreement to be finalized and implemented.

“On behalf of the United States of America, as President, and also representing the countries of the Middle East, it is an honor to have this long-term problem close to resolution,” Trump added.

This announcement signals a potentially historic step toward de-escalation in the region, with the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global shipping route, at the center of the negotiations.
