U.S. forces carried out, overnight, a maritime interception and boarding operation of the sanctioned Iranian oil tanker “Majestic X,” which was transporting oil from Iran in the Indian Ocean within the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command’s area of responsibility.

The U.S. Department of War said: “We will continue our efforts to enforce global maritime law to disrupt illicit networks and intercept vessels that provide material support to Iran, wherever they are located.”

It added: “International waters cannot be used as cover by sanctioned entities. The U.S. Department of War will continue to prevent illicit actors and their vessels from freely maneuvering in the maritime domain.”
