U.S. officials have suggested that President Donald Trump may give authorization for a military strike on Iran within days, after Iran attacked U.S. ships in the Strait of Hormuz and other targets in the United Arab Emirates.

According to a report by the U.S. newspaper The Wall Street Journal, Trump had spent several days weighing whether to punish Iran for not abandoning its nuclear program, while also trying to avoid a dangerous escalation that could drag the United States further into war.
