After conceding early, Egypt responded through Mostafa Abdel Raouf, Mohamed Salah and Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet, putting the Pharaohs on the brink of qualification for the Round of 32.

Elsewhere in the group, Iran and Belgium played out a goalless draw, leaving both sides on two points.

In Group H, tournament debutants Cape Verde continued their impressive run by holding two-time champions Uruguay to a 2-2 draw. The result leaves both teams on two points behind group leaders Spain, who strengthened their position with a 4-0 victory over Saudi Arabia.
