President Joseph Aoun affirmed that "a leader needs many resources and many people around him, but above all, he needs someone who isn’t afraid to disagree, even if gently, as long as it’s not out of spite, vengeance, or selfishness, and certainly not the kind of 'get up so I can take your place.'"

Speaking from the Economic and Social Council, President Aoun said: “I ask for and need your help, as well as the help of every official, to begin our work immediately.”

He added: “I need you, just as I need every free Lebanese, your expertise, planning, and studies; this is exactly what your Economic and Social Council has accomplished, as the amended law now obligates the government to consult you on all economic, social, and environmental matters.”
