Minister of Economy and Trade Amer Bisat announced the launch of a tender for the digitalization of services offered by the Intellectual Property Department at the ministry. The project covers approximately 26 services across trademarks, patents, copyrights, and industrial designs, as part of the ministry’s broader modernization and reform agenda.
Bisat noted that this initiative builds on previous digitalization efforts, with around 24 services already automated. “With the completion of this phase, we expect the Directorate General of Economy and Trade, led by Mohammad Abi Haidar, to be fully digitized by mid-2026,” he said, adding that the initiative will serve as a core pillar of Lebanon’s future e-government framework.
The project is supported by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and aligns with the ministry’s strategic goals, which include:
• Simplifying the business environment for citizens and companies,
• Accelerating procedures and reducing processing times,
• Enhancing public administration efficiency,
• Promoting transparency in government operations.
Bisat emphasized that this step is a significant part of Lebanon’s ongoing digital transformation and will contribute to the protection of innovation and creativity across sectors.
