Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Youssef Rajji met with UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert.
Discussions focused on the situation in southern Lebanon and ongoing efforts to push Israel to respect its commitments under the cessation of hostilities declaration, halt its violations, and end its occupation of Lebanese territory.
Plasschaert briefed Minister Rajji on the outcome of her recent visit to Israel, particularly with regard to these matters.
The meeting also covered ongoing cooperation between Lebanon and the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), with both sides stressing the importance of enabling the peacekeeping force to fully carry out its mandate in southern Lebanon. The renewal of UNIFIL’s mandate is expected in August.
