Lebanese Government underscores tourism revival plans in high-level meeting with gulf envoys
Minister of Tourism Laura Khazen Lahoud took part in a high-level ministerial meeting at the Grand Serail, chaired by Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, and attended by the ambassadors of Saudi Arabia Waleed Bukhari; Qatar Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Faisal al-Thani; Oman Ahmed bin Mohammed al-Saidi; the chargé d’affaires of the United Arab Emirates Fahd Salem al-Kaabi; and Kuwait Yassin Mohammad al-Majed.

The meeting also included several cabinet ministers: Minister of National Defense, General Michel Menassa; Minister of Interior and Municipalities, Brigadier General Ahmad Hajjar; and Minister of Public Works and Transport Fayez Rasamny.

The gathering reaffirmed the government’s commitment to revitalizing Lebanon’s tourism sector, particularly by attracting more Arab and Gulf visitors. The meeting follows recent positive developments, notably the decision by the United Arab Emirates to lift its travel ban on Lebanon, an acknowledgment of the government’s efforts to restore trust and stability.

Minister Lahoud presented a comprehensive action plan outlining practical steps to enhance the experience of Arab and Gulf tourists in Lebanon over the coming months. Her proposal emphasized inter-ministerial coordination to strengthen security, ensure visitor safety, promote transparency and competitiveness in pricing, improve infrastructure and services at Rafic Hariri International Airport, and implement an effective tourist complaint response mechanism.

“These measures are part of a broader roadmap through which the government aims to reestablish Lebanon as a leading Arab destination,” Lahoud stated. “We are committed to building lasting trust with Gulf visitors, grounded in respect, quality, and innovation.”
