Interior Minister Ahmad Hajjar confirmed that “the ministry does not interfere in the electoral process, the government maintains equal distance from all parties, and the results are in the hands of the people of Beirut.”
He added from Gemmayzeh: “I hope Beirut will always remain the bright face of Lebanon,” addressing the people of Beirut, saying, “Make sure your municipality is properly represented.”
Hajjar pointed out that “issues appeared during the vote counting in Tripoli, and we had the courage to inform the public about what happened. Every citizen has the right to challenge the results before the State Council, and all ballots are held at the Ministry of Interior.”
He noted that “the removal of the North Governor was an appropriate administrative measure, and there is a mechanism to appoint a replacement. We wish the best for the North, and renewal is always beneficial.”
Hajjar announced that “the elections in the South are proceeding as scheduled,” adding, “We have made the necessary arrangements.”
He continued: “If there were any shortcomings in preparing polling centers for people with special needs, I apologize. We will give this issue special attention and will prepare everything needed for the upcoming parliamentary elections.”
