Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri received Sheikh Akl of the Druze community, Sheikh Sami Abi Al-Muna, at the Second Presidency in Ain el-Tineh, accompanied by a delegation from the Druze religious council, including judges and advisors.
The meeting covered political, national, and spiritual matters, with a focus on developments in Lebanon and the region.
Following the meeting, Sheikh Abi Al-Muna praised Speaker Berri’s national stance, noting the alignment of reform efforts between the presidency and Parliament. “We also stressed the importance of fully implementing the Taif Accord and safeguarding national unity through a renewed spiritual partnership,” he said, adding that a series of intellectual forums on the topic would culminate in a national conference under the patronage of the President.
Speaker Berri also met with former minister Samir Jisr and former Public Works Minister Ali Hamieh to discuss recent political developments.
Separately, Berri sent a congratulatory cable to Mr. Azouz Nasri on his election as President of the Algerian Council of the Nation, expressing hopes to strengthen parliamentary cooperation between Lebanon and Algeria.
