Around midnight on Saturday–Sunday, a mass escape took place from the holding cell of the Ghazir police station, where approximately 20 detainees—both Lebanese and Syrians—broke out after creating a hole in the cell wall.

According to reports, the escape went unnoticed for about an hour and a half, giving the fugitives enough time to flee the area and avoid immediate pursuit.

Sources suggest the escape had been pre-planned, taking advantage of reduced staffing and lax overnight security.

An urgent internal investigation has been launched amid questions of possible negligence or complicity. Security forces remain on high alert as the manhunt for the escapees continues.
