Lebanese Army Commander, General Rodolph Haykal, visited the headquarters of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) in Naqoura, where he met with UNIFIL Head of Mission and Force Commander Major General Aroldo Lázaro.
The meeting addressed recent developments in the South Litani sector and emphasized the importance of close cooperation between the Lebanese Armed Forces and UNIFIL within the framework of UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
General Haykal reaffirmed the essential role of UNIFIL in efforts to restore stability in southern Lebanon, particularly in the face of ongoing Israeli violations of Lebanese sovereignty and the continued occupation of Lebanese territory; obstacles that hinder the full deployment of the Lebanese Army in the region.
