MP Ghayath Yazbeck told MTV that "Hezbollah is only capable of delaying Lebanon’s recovery, and it is its own environment that pays the price for this delay as it refuses to give up its weapons and the Lebanese consensus does not want to hold it accountable."
Yazbeck added: "Hezbollah has been left unsupported due to the lack of Iranian support; meanwhile, the state continues to give it special treatment, when it should be taking responsibility and working to save Lebanon, and if it cannot then it should step aside."
On the Shebaa Farms issue, Yazbeck asserted: "The Shebaa Farms are Lebanese lands, and Israel is exploiting the situation there to use it as a cover for conflict; meanwhile, the Syrian is 'getting paid' by both the Israelis and the Iranians through this game."
Regarding the Lebanese Forces’ relationship with President Aoun, he explained: "The relationship between the Lebanese Forces and President Aoun is that of a party wanting the state led by its own leader. The only disagreement between Geagea and President Aoun is about the pace of things, and the president should tell Hezbollah to stop holding onto its weapons."
Finally, Yazbeck pointed to a serious institutional issue, stating: "Our disagreement with President Berri is deep due to his poor handling of his role by hijacking the parliamentary council’s decision, and this is exactly what happened regarding the decision to exclude the urgent and reintroduced expatriates’ bill from the agenda."
