Nassar discusses fate of Lebanese missing in Syria with UN-backed mission
Justice Minister Adel Nassar met with Karla Quintana Osuna, Head of the United Nations-affiliated Independent Institution on Missing Persons in the Syrian Arab Republic (IIMP), to discuss the issue of Lebanese nationals missing in Syria.

The meeting was attended by Anne Massagé, Syria file coordinator at the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, human rights advocate Habib Nassar, and the Minister’s legal advisor, Lara Saade.

Following the meeting, Minister Nassar reaffirmed Lebanon’s close cooperation with the institution “to uncover the fate of all Lebanese missing in Syria and to uphold the right of families to know the fate and whereabouts of their loved ones.”

The IIMP is mandated to clarify the fate and whereabouts of all persons missing in Syria, and to support their families. Its scope includes cases of abduction, enforced disappearance, arbitrary detention, and individuals missing due to displacement, migration, or military operations.
