Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri held a series of meetings at Ain el Tineh, at the top of his agenda was a meeting with Prime Minister Nawaf Salam.
The two officials discussed the latest political and security developments, as well as the outcomes of the visit by US presidential envoy Tom Barrack.
When asked to comment on the visit, Prime Minister Salam said briefly: “Speaker Berri did more than enough yesterday, and the atmosphere is positive.”
Speaker Berri also received Dr. Sania Nishtar, Chair of the GAVI Alliance (Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization), accompanied by Health Minister Rakan Nassereddine and Health Ministry Director General Fadi Sinan.
The delegation presented GAVI’s action plan to support Lebanon in securing basic vaccines, in alignment with the World Health Organization’s guidelines and in coordination with the Ministry of Public Health.
Later, Berri met with Jihad Azour, Director of the IMF’s Middle East and Central Asia Department, for discussions focused on Lebanon’s financial and economic situation.
