President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, met at Baabda Palace with US Presidential Envoy Thomas Barrack, in the presence of US Ambassador to Lebanon Lisa Johnson.
President Aoun, on behalf of the Lebanese state, handed the US envoy a draft comprehensive memorandum for the implementation of Lebanon's pledges, from the November 27, 2024 Declaration, through the Lebanese government's ministerial statement, and particularly through the President's inaugural address, on the urgent need to save Lebanon by extending the authority of the Lebanese state over all its territories with its own sole forces, restricting weapons to the sole possession of the Lebanese Armed Forces, and affirming the authority of decisions on war and peace to Lebanese constitutional institutions. All this should be done in conjunction with preserving Lebanese sovereignty over all its international borders, and with reconstruction and the launch of the process of economic recovery under the guarantee and sponsorship of Lebanon's brothers and friends in the world, in a manner that preserves the safety, security, and dignity of Lebanon and all Lebanese.
