Prime Minister Nawaf Salam met today at the Grand Serail with Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director-General of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization ALECSO, accompanied by Minister of Culture Ghassan Salameh.
Discussions reportedly focused on enhancing Arab cooperation in education, culture, and science.
Amar announced three ALECSO projects launched in Beirut, including initiatives on smart cities, startups, and the first-ever Arab Observatory for Intangible Cultural Heritage.
PM Salam also welcomed MP Camille Dory Chamoun, who stressed the importance of upholding the Taif Accord and ensuring that all arms remain under state authority. Chamoun invited Salam to attend the annual memorial mass for President Camille Chamoun and First Lady Zalfa on August 16 in Deir El-Qamar.
In a farewell meeting, Salam also hosted UNHCR Lebanon Representative Ivo Freijsen. The pair reviewed UNHCR’s efforts in Lebanon and discussed continued cooperation to facilitate the voluntary return of Syrian refugees.
