Minister of Justice Adel Nassar received an envelope containing the judicial appointments from the Secretary of the Supreme Judicial Council, Judge Rodney Daou.
Nassar announced that "the Supreme Judicial Council has perfectly fulfilled its duty and worked tirelessly day and night to complete them. We hope to activate the work of the judiciary."
He added, “We have full confidence in the work of the Supreme Judicial Council. Now that we have moved away from sectarian quotas, our role is to ensure the independence of the judiciary, the quality of its work, and that it performs its duties according to proper procedures.”
Nassar continued, “The relationship with the Supreme Judicial Council is excellent, and no disagreements have occurred. I will review the judicial appointments, and I am confident that there will be no obstacles to their approval.”
He confirmed that “we will see the investigation into the Beirut port explosion through to the very end.”
According to MTV sources, the judicial appointments include naming Judge Sami Sader as Public Prosecutor in Mount Lebanon, Judge Kamal Nassar as President of the Indictment Chamber in Beirut, Judge Raja Hamoush as Public Prosecutor at the Court of Appeal in Beirut, Judge Rola Othman as First Investigating Judge of Beirut, Judge Hani Helmi Al-Hajjar as Public Prosecutor in the North, and Judge Najat Abou Chakra as Public Prosecutor in Nabatieh.
