Residents of the southern border town of Ramieh reported the infiltration of a number of monkeys from the Israeli side into the outskirts of the town, in what appears to be the latest incident highlighting ongoing vulnerabilities along the Lebanese-Israeli frontier.

The unusual sighting comes less than a month after a herd of Israeli cattle was spotted roaming the outskirts of Ramieh and the nearby town of Aita al-Shaab, entering through gaps in the border fence.

According to local accounts, these breaches are the result of structural openings in the barrier, created by the Israeli army, which reportedly uses them for nighttime incursions into Lebanese territory.
