The Ministry of Public Works and Transport, on Friday announced rehabilitation works at border crossings in Akkar that were damaged by Israeli strikes targeting three bridges linking Lebanon and Syria: Al-Arida, Al-Sabea Qmar, and Al-Abboudieh.
Technical teams from the ministry, in coordination with relevant authorities, have begun establishing temporary crossings to maintain border traffic and ensure connectivity between the two countries.
At Al-Areeda, a temporary crossing has been completed and reopened to traffic.
At Al-Sabea Qmar, temporary repair works are underway to allow passage until a permanent solution is implemented.
At Al-Abboudieh, construction of a temporary crossing will begin shortly.
The ministry stressed that these measures are interim solutions pending the completion of comprehensive engineering studies with specialized consultancy firms, paving the way for rebuilding the three bridges to their original standards. It reaffirmed its full commitment to restoring normal border operations.
