Lebanese Forces Party leader Samir Geagea received the newly appointed Chinese Ambassador to Lebanon Chen Chuandong at the party’s headquarters in Maarab.
Talks reportedly focused on strengthening Lebanese-Chinese bilateral ties and included an exchange of views on the latest political and economic developments in Lebanon and the broader region, in addition to issues of mutual interest.
Geagea welcomed the ambassador, describing China as “a friendly and influential global power” and “not merely a state but a great civilization with a positive contribution to humanity.” He also stressed the importance of adhering to Lebanon’s constitution as the sole guarantor of the rights of all its communities.
In turn, Ambassador Chen reaffirmed the longstanding friendship between China and Lebanon, tracing it back to the ancient Silk Road.
The Chinese diplomat further emphasized China’s respect for Lebanon’s sovereignty and its support for the country’s stability and prosperity, affirming that non-interference is a cornerstone of China’s foreign policy.
At the close of the meeting, the ambassador presented a symbolic gift to Geagea, and both parties agreed to maintain communication and explore avenues for future cooperation.
