Hezbollah official Mahmoud Qomati told Reuters that yesterday’s Cabinet session on the army’s plan to confine weapons to the state is “an opportunity to return to wisdom and rationality, and to prevent the country from sliding into the unknown.”
The Cabinet yesterday welcomed a plan by the army to disarm and place weapons solely under legitimate authorities, saying the army would begin implementing it without setting a timeframe. It noted, however, that the army’s capabilities are limited in this regard, adding that ongoing Israeli military operations in Lebanon will hinder the army’s progress.
