Free Patriotic Movement leader, MP Gebran Bassil, began a tour of the Chouf district with a visit to Deir el-Qamar, where he met with the town’s mayor, Naji Germanos, and members of the municipal council.
On this occasion, Bassil stated that he had "supported the municipality because it represents a shift in direction," highlighting "the essential role of municipalities in local development."
He added: "We are counting on the current municipal council’s efforts and came to see how we can cooperate on the commercial market project. It is unfortunate that some archaeological sites and the old market have been neglected, while Deir el-Qamar, with its heritage and strategic location, should be a center for tourism."
