Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea issued a strong statement criticizing what he described as performative outrage by some political factions in response to repeated Israeli attacks on Lebanon.
“Every time Lebanese citizens are subjected to bloodshed and destruction, we see the same theatrical reactions, loud condemnations and emotional rhetoric from the so-called ‘resistance’ camp,” Geagea said. “It is like watching a public poetry contest while lives are lost and livelihoods are destroyed.”
Geagea emphasized the need for concrete measures to prevent further escalation. “The only way to truly protect Lebanon is through a strong, sovereign state that fully controls its weapons and has the sole authority over decisions of war and peace,” he said.
He concluded with a pointed warning to armed groups operating outside the state. “What Lebanon needs is not more rhetoric but responsibility. Those holding weapons outside state authority must hand them over, not tomorrow but today, so the government can act to prevent further aggression.”
