A joint meeting between Lebanon’s General Security Directorate and Internal Security Forces and a delegation of Syrian Interior Ministry officers was held at the Hilton Habtoor Hotel in Sin El Fil to coordinate on key security issues of mutual concern.
The meeting was attended by General Security Director General Major General Hassan Choucair, ISF Director General Major General Raed Abdallah, and Presidential Security Advisor Brigader General Tony Mansour.
The Syrian delegation was led by Major General Abdel Qader Tahan, Deputy Minister of Interior for Security Affairs.
Major General Choucair emphasized that “today’s meeting, held upon the directives of President Joseph Aoun, focuses on strengthening cooperation between the Lebanese and Syrian interior ministries in combating terrorism, drug trafficking, illegal migration, and information management.” He announced that “a joint action paper will be prepared to institutionalize collaboration between both countries.”
Major General Tahan expressed appreciation for Lebanon’s hospitality, noting that the meeting “builds on previous discussions between Lebanese and Syrian ministers held in Saudi Arabia,” adding that “any security challenge in one country inevitably affects the other.”
Major General Raed Abdallah reaffirmed Lebanon’s readiness for “full cooperation in all matters serving the security of both nations.”
