Addressing the youth crowd gathering in Bkerke's squares this evening, Pope Leo XIV began by saying in Arabic, "Peace be with you."
He continued, "I thank you all for this welcome, and I thank Patriarch Rahi for his eloquent words. I also greet the young people hailing come from across Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq."
"The testimonies I have heard speak of hope and kindness despite the difficulties faced by Lebanese youth," the Pope remarked.
"Lebanon's history is full of achievements and distinction, but it also has deep wounds that are difficult to heal," he went on.
"The future is in your hands, and you have a historic opportunity to change it," the Pope affirmed to the young men and women, considering that kindness and devotion have the power to heal all wounds.
He stressed that the homeland "will regain its youth, a sign of unity and fertility among the people."
"Peace is not complete if it is the result of the interests of some individuals," the Pope continued to note, emphasizing that "there is no peace without justice and no justice without forgiveness."
