Poland’s Food-Security Aid reviewed in Kefraya visit
As part of the project "Food Assistance for the Most Vulnerable Communities in Lebanon", funded by the Polish Aid program, with the support of the Order of Malta Poland, and implemented by the Order of Malta Lebanon, H.E. Dr. Aleksandra Bukowska-McCabe, Ambassador of Poland to Lebanon, visited the Order of Malta Lebanon's Community Healthcare Center in Kefraya – West Bekaa with a delegation. The visit aimed to observe the implementation of the project and assess the direct impact of the Polish support in assisting the most vulnerable households amid the ongoing multiple-crises in Lebanon.

The project seeks to alleviate rising food insecurity among affected families in the context of Lebanon's prolonged economic and social crisis. It provides food assistance to thousands of vulnerable households, offers nutritional awareness sessions to promote healthy and practical choices, and supports the local market by sourcing food items from local producers.

The partnership between the Order of Malta Lebanon, known for its nationwide presence with more than 60 projects and programs, including Community Healthcare Centers, Mobile Medical Units, and Agro-Humanitarian Centers – and the Order of Malta Poland is a testimony of fraternal collaboration to strengthen community resilience and ensure effective support during challenging times.

During her visit, the Ambassador toured the center's various departments and learned all about the mechanisms for beneficiary registration, food parcel preparation, and distribution carried out in coordination with ministries, municipalities, and the social workers of the Order of Malta Lebanon.

She also met with the medical, nursing, and social teams operating at the center, gaining insight into the challenges facing local communities and beneficiaries, as well as the efforts deployed to ensure that assistance reaches the most vulnerable with transparency and fairness. The delegation then headed to the Order of Malta nearby Agro-Humanitarian Center.

In addition to this visit, a delegation from the Polish Aid program and the Order of Malta Poland previously conducted field visits to the Order of Malta Lebanon center in Ain El-Remmaneh to follow up on the project's progress.

Following the visit, H.E. Dr. Aleksandra Bukowska-McCabe, Ambassador of Poland to Lebanon, expressed her appreciation for the activities of the Order of Malta in Lebanon and her satisfaction with the bilateral cooperation.

For her part, the Managing Director of the Order of Malta Lebanon, Mrs. Lelia El Khazen Mallat, welcomed the Ambassador and the accompanying delegation, expressing her deep gratitude and appreciation for this humanitarian partnership, which seeks to extend essential support to the most vulnerable families across Lebanon—leaving a meaningful and heartfelt impact embraced by the Lebanese people.

This cooperation has made it possible to seamlessly combine humanitarian aid with public diplomacy efforts. This integrated approach was notably evident during Pope Leo XIV's recent visit to Lebanon, where he toured facilities supported by various humanitarian organizations, thereby underscoring the vital role of religious communities and international institutions in providing essential assistance to those most in need.
