Egyptian Ambassador to Lebanon Alaa Moussa confirmed from Baabda Palace that indicators show the situation is evolving in the right direction, noting that "the next phase may witness breakthroughs that Egypt is working on through intensive contacts aimed at easing tensions and sparing Lebanon the specter of war."
Ambassador Moussa explained that, “opportunities for dialogue exist, and there are attempts to find common ground that can be built upon to take future steps,” noting that “the Lebanese state has taken positive steps during the past period, notably with the appointment of Ambassador Simon Karam to the Mechanism committee, a step that has been welcomed by the parties concerned and will be built upon in the next phase.”
The Ambassador also announced that the Egyptian Prime Minister's visit to Beirut next week aims to continue exchanging messages of support for Lebanon, hoping that these efforts will lead to tangible results.
