Aoun holds a series of meetings
President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, affirmed during his meeting this morning at Baabda Palace with the newly elected council of the World Lebanese Cultural Union, that "we are working through negotiation to establish security and stability, especially in the South, "adding that “negotiation does not mean surrender."

At the beginning of the meeting, WLCU’s former president, Abbas Fawaz, emphasized "the Union's belief in the state and in Lebanon," noting that "the Lebanese diaspora supports the president of the republic and the rebuilding of the state and its institutions, a state of justice, equity, and strength that protects all its citizens."

The President of the Republic was also briefed on the atmosphere of the conference recently held by the Union with the participation of representatives from the six continents on the twelfth of this month, in which Ibrahim Constantine was elected as the new global president of the Union with 90% of the votes of the conference attendees.

The newly elected WLCU President, Dr. Ibrahim Constantin, in turn, delivered a word in which he thanked President Aoun “for his deep belief in the role of the Lebanese diaspora and its ability to help the homeland and enhance its presence throughout the world.” He also stressed that “the Union represents the Lebanese diaspora as a whole, away from politics, sectarianism and racism.”

Constantine also summarized the role of the Union since its inception, stressing its support for the state, the unity of the diaspora, Lebanon and its people.

“When we say support for the state, this means supporting Your Excellency and the Lebanese Army institution, which we are proud of and cherish,” said Constantine.

President Aoun welcomed the delegation and congratulated the union on its successful elections.

Separately, President Aoun met at Baabda Palace with Finance Minister Yassine Jaber, with discussions touching on the country’s financial situation and the projects the ministry is working on, including the progress of the draft law on the so-called “financial gap,” which is scheduled to be presented to the Council of Ministers soon.
