Rami Naim testifies before court, issues statement
Journalist Rami Naim issued the following statement:

After all attempts to lure me to the southern city of Sidon failed, and out of my firm belief in the judiciary, the rule of law, and institutional governance, I appeared today before Public Prosecutor Judge Pierre Francis in Beirut in connection with a complaint filed against me over my political positions, through which I have consistently expressed my views. These positions prompted some individuals affiliated with Hezbollah’s political environment to attempt to silence me.

The investigation was attended by my legal counsel, attorney Marc Hobeika, and lasted for three consecutive hours, during which I answered all questions in line with my principles and independent thinking. The inquiry addressed every aspect of the complaint and was conducted with a high level of professionalism. I provided detailed explanations of all the issues raised, responded thoroughly to the accusations against me, and categorically denied them.

Today, I extend my thanks to my fellow journalists who followed this case. It is no longer my personal case, but one that concerns the entire media community. I also emphasize my appreciation for the judiciary’s esteemed role and its constructive approach toward journalists in a manner that safeguards their rights and dignity. At the same time, I reiterate my call for all judges to strictly adhere to due process, especially when a case or complaint involves a journalist.
