Watch: Egypt Sends Clear Message of Support to Lebanon
Prime Minister Nawaf Salam stressed that relations between Lebanon and Egypt go beyond a simple exchange of interests, describing them as a shared history that both countries seek to carry forward into the future. His remarks came during a joint press conference at the Grand Serail following talks with Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.

Salam said the discussions focused on priorities for cooperation across several key files and emphasized the importance of following up on the understandings reached between the two sides. He also welcomed Madbouly’s interest in meeting with economic bodies, noting that this reflects a shared desire to strengthen ties between the Lebanese and Egyptian private sectors. Salam further expressed appreciation for Egypt’s role in efforts aimed at ending the Israeli occupation in southern Lebanon.

For his part, Madbouly said his visit reflects the depth of relations between Lebanon and Egypt and the growing political engagement between the two countries under Lebanon’s new leadership. He praised the positive outcomes of Salam’s recent visits to Egypt, which resulted in the signing of around 15 agreements across various sectors, describing them as clear evidence of political will to deepen bilateral relations.

Madbouly said the talks also addressed political developments in the region. He commended the efforts of President Joseph Aoun, the Lebanese government, and the ministerial statement, as well as the direction taken to achieve stability, preserve civil peace, restore sovereignty, and extend the authority of the Lebanese Army across all Lebanese territory.

He stressed that a strong state is the true guarantee and that legitimacy remains the essential safeguard. Madbouly reaffirmed Egypt’s firm and continued support for Lebanon, saying Cairo would spare no effort to keep the country away from any escalation. He also reiterated Egypt’s rejection of ongoing Israeli violations and the occupation of positions in southern Lebanon.

The Egyptian prime minister concluded by reaffirming Egypt’s commitment to Lebanon’s stability and national unity, and its continued support for the country across all fields.
