Frem meets Saudi Prince Yazid bin Farhan to discuss key regional and domestic issues

MP Neemat Frem, chairman of the executive council of the "Project of a Nation for the People," said on X that he met with Prince Yazid bin Farhan and Saudi Ambassador Walid Al-Bukhari to discuss a range of pressing matters affecting Lebanon and the region.

Frem noted that Prince Yazid expressed satisfaction with the Lebanese government’s performance and praised President Michel Aoun’s handling of the current stage. The prince also reiterated Saudi Arabia’s support for disarming non-state actors, stressing that while the issue is complex, it requires continued effort and serious backing.

The meeting also addressed Lebanon’s economy, with Frem highlighting a recent uptick in economic activity and stressing that restoring confidence through decisive decisions could revive growth. Discussions further covered ongoing reforms and the financial gap law, with all parties emphasizing the need to pass legislation to address the fiscal shortfall.

On security and trade, the meeting reviewed the Beirut Port file, the importance of securing maritime borders, and the imminent activation of scanner devices. Frem added that talks will soon begin on resuming Lebanese exports to Saudi Arabia, which was Lebanon’s top export market before shipments halted.

Finally, the delegation underscored the significance of Saudi tourism to Lebanon, urging the completion of necessary preparations to welcome visitors year-round, including during winter to enjoy the snow.
