Minister of Interior and Municipalities Ahmad al-Hajjar welcomed Saeb Tamam Salam at his office, with discussions focusing on the general situation and the latest domestic developments.

In a statement issued afterward, Salam said his visit aimed to congratulate Minister al-Hajjar on the significant efforts exerted by the Ministry of Interior and the security forces during the holiday period, noting that no major incidents were recorded, an achievement credited to the safety of citizens and the country’s stability.

The meeting also addressed the upcoming parliamentary elections, particularly amid circulating discussions about possible postponement or extension. Salam said Minister al-Hajjar clearly affirmed that the ministry is technically and administratively ready to hold the elections on schedule, stressing that there are no obstacles preventing their timely conduct.

Both sides underscored that parliamentary elections constitute a fundamental pillar of democratic life, carrying a positive message to Lebanese citizens and the international community that Lebanon remains capable of respecting its constitutional deadlines and preserving its democratic process despite ongoing challenges.
