Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Youssef Raggi welcomed French Ambassador to Lebanon, Hervé Magro, with talks focusing on bilateral relations and developments on the local and international scenes, particularly the situation in south Lebanon and the role of the Mechanism Committee amid ongoing efforts to maintain stability.
Ambassador Magro briefed Minister Raggi on France’s preparations to host a conference in March aimed at supporting the Lebanese Armed Forces.
Raggi stressed the importance of exerting pressure on Israel to comply with UN Security Council Resolution 1701 and the cessation of hostilities agreement, withdraw its forces from the five occupied points in Lebanon, release detainees, and halt repeated violations of Lebanese sovereignty. He reaffirmed the Lebanese government’s commitment to implementing Resolution 1701 and the Cabinet decision to confine arms to the state across all Lebanese territory, in line with the plan set by the Lebanese Army.
Separately, Raggi met with Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Lebanon Muhammad Jubayer Salehin on a farewell visit marking the end of his diplomatic mission, wishing him success in his future assignments.
