President of the Republic Joseph Aoun met with the Catholicos-Patriarch of the Armenian Catholic Church of Cilicia, Patriarch Raphaël Bedros XXI Minassian, with whom he reviewed general developments and issues concerning members of the Armenian community. The meeting also addressed progress in the canonization file of Blessed martyred priest Komitas Komurjian, as well as ongoing preparations to declare Servant of God Cardinal Krikor Agagianian blessed.
Patriarch Minassian commended President Aoun’s efforts to strengthen security and stability and to reactivate Lebanon’s international presence after years of absence.
President Aoun also received at Baabda Palace the Commander of the Jordanian Armed Forces, Yousef Hneiti, at the head of a delegation, in the presence of Jordanian Ambassador to Lebanon, Walid Al-Hadid, as part of his official visit to Lebanon.
The delegation included Brigadier General Haitham Bakr and Brigadier General Majdi Al-Harasis.
Major General Hneiti conveyed Jordan’s commitment, under the directives of King Abdullah II, to continue supporting the Lebanese Armed Forces with equipment and training.
Hneiti said the support aims to enable the Lebanese Army to carry out its required duties, within the framework of the fraternal relations linking Lebanon and Jordan.
President Aoun conveyed his greetings to the Jordanian Monarch and expressed his gratitude for the continued assistance provided by Jordan to Lebanon in general and to the Lebanese Army in particular, as well as for Jordan’s ongoing support for Lebanon in regional and international forums. Aoun also hailed the "bonds of brotherhood existing between the fraternal Lebanese and Jordanian peoples."
The meeting also addressed the general situation in the region in light of recent and rapidly evolving developments.
Separately, President Aoun met with ambassadors at the central administration, urging them to facilitate citizens’ affairs without unnecessary complications and to contribute to revitalizing the work of Lebanese embassies abroad.
At Baabda Palace, the President of the Republic, also received former Ambassador Antoine Shadid, with whom he discussed the general situation and current regional developments.
President Aoun was also briefed by Mr. Karim Al-Andari on the ongoing preparations for the "Beirut Sports Festival," to be held at the Forum de Beirut from June 10 to 14, with local, Arab, and international participation.
