The Ministry of Agriculture on Thursday signed an emergency support project with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) to contain the spread of foot-and-mouth disease and strengthen veterinary preparedness. The agreement was signed by Agriculture Minister Nizar Hani and FAO Representative in Lebanon Noura Ourabah Haddad.
The project prioritizes the second phase of emergency vaccination for cattle and small ruminants, enhances farmer awareness and technical support, and improves disease surveillance and response procedures. Minister Hani stressed that protecting livestock is a strategic and sovereign priority directly linked to Lebanon’s food security and stability.
